Free adventure 'game', set in a marsh. I made it mostly as a tech demo for the engine, but I went a bit overboard and stayed up for 21 hours yesterday working on it.
There's no winning and you can't die. But you can explore a marsh and you might see zombies, which is always fun.dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34…
It's easy to set up:
- Double click EngineTest.jar
- Engine tech demo. Enjoy.
Things you can do:
- Explore the pretty marsh.
- Find and enter a house.
- Find a mutant lobster restaurant.
- Find the two graveyards.
- Find the big greeting.
A map for those who like maps. The colors are weird because this is a screenshot of the actual level data file.
Beyond what I mentioned in the last journal, I added instanced maps (for the internals of the houses and 'Weird Seafood') and border rules, which add more detail in how tiles interact with each other via their borders. For example, struts appear below bridges when there is water to the south, adding a 2.5d effect, and gravel paths have a rough look to them rather than having flat edges.
I may do more with this in the future, if anyone likes it.
If you have any bugs, comments, or feature requests, I'm interested in hearing 'em.
